All courses except one are offered in a one-week intensive format and are worth one full course credit or three continuing education units (CEU's). The courses are suitable for a broad range of purposes: for CEU's and for Master of Arts, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry and other graduate programs. Laypeople, rostered church professionals, pastors and seminarians will find courses that enrich their lives and ministries.
A number of courses have specific prerequisites, and certain categories of students will be given preference for some courses (for example, D.Min. in Preaching students for the electives in preaching). Most courses have a limit of 20 students, while the preaching courses have a limit of 15. Courses are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Ordinarily, students may take only two courses. Most courses meet 8:30-4:30, including chapel and lunch.
Students register through one of the participating seminaries. All registrations should be sent to the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Further information about registration, tuition, and courses can be obtained from the Office of Extension Education at LSTC. The phone number is 773-256-0723.

The Women, Ministry and the City program is now formally sponsored by the Association of Chicago Theological Schools and the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago. Students from outside the Chicago area must register for the WMC Summer Program either through Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary or through Loyola University's Institute of Pastoral Studies. The ACTS Deans have resolved that participants in the WMC Summer Program should receive the equivalent of credit for two courses, with academic or field credit, depending on the policy of the individual school.
Application deadlines: April 15 for 2000 and 2001 (late applications will be considered if space is available). For more information, please contact the program coordinator Barbara Isaacs through the registrar's office at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
